Process

The process of designing and building a home should be a pleasant one

If there is one foundational belief guiding the way we approach working with clients, it is that design is collaborative. Make no mistake, there are times of intensity, but we hold fast to the notion that by maintaining an honest and true channel of communication and following a careful and consistent process, it can be a resoundingly positive experience.

Predesign Site Selection, Master Planning, Programming

Before any project begins, a site must be selected. Its attributes—both positive and negative—are taken into account. Access and approach, sun angles, drainage, viewscapes—it’s all part of the package. Once a site is selected, we move on to the fundamental aspects of creating a hierarchy of space relationships and functions for the project.

Design Schematic Design, Design Development

Time to start designing. Broad strokes outline the basic rooms and how they are impacted by the site’s natural features. Once everyone has a general sense of the layout and how it interacts with the land, we move on to more detailed drawings. We discuss materials. The aesthetics of the finished project start to come into view.

Concept to Reality Construction Documents

This is the bridge between design and the actual building. It is a time of intensive communication as we make sure all parties involved have a complete understanding of the project. From 3D modeling to photo-realistic renderings to one-on-one conversations to the construction documents themselves, this is the time during which it all becomes real.

Project Management Construction Administration

Throughout the course of any project questions arise and there is no better way to achieve the desired results than to answer them directly. Our role overseeing and working collaboratively with all parties involved in your project is not something we take lightly.
